Reporter Emma Joseph from Dorset Living was very easy to talk to and it was a lot easier that doing a radio interview. It was a lovely yet slightly scary experience reading the article and an odd feeling to see your words reflected back.

Show Home

2019

I was approached by Interior Designer Nykke Jones who created this beautiful show home and it was as if the house was designed to go with my paintings. The house called ‘Ceres’ was built by Amirez Developments and the furniture is from My Furniture. It’s a very modern home with lots of glass picture windows and stunning view of Poole Harbour.

Exhibition at Mulberry Room, Shelley Theatre, Bournemouth 2018

As part of this exhibition we held an Artists in Conversation event.

Three of us spoke about our work, Linda Sale, Young-Joo Shin and myself. It was fascinating the similarities in the origins of the work. The theme of Burning Bush ran through all our work and yet we had never spoken about this before. I’m interested in uncovering layers and seeing what lies beneath, but with ‘Burning Bush’ on the left and ‘Kindling’ on the right, this is also about a kind of alchemy. It’s about transformation and internal fire.

Exhibition at Shaftesbury Arts Centre 2018

We had a great time in Shaftesbury, the exhibition venue is gorgeous with its pristine white walls and the local people were so warm and friendly.

In the painting ‘Water Lilies’ below, I’m revisiting the subject of water surface. The silver paint has reflective qualities like water itself.

Barbados 2018

This wonderful island was a gem of inspiration. Every morning I would wake up to the most incredible bird song, interspersed by frantic tooting of local bus horns. We were staying in a private house and making most of our own food so it felt more like living in Speightstown than being on vacation.

Knoll Gardens 2017

Solo Show and Residency

Being Artist in Residence at the beautiful Knoll Gardens, Wimborne was an amazing opportunity to connect with nature and deepen my practice. The gardens are unusually natural, almost wild and that allowing of the plants to find their own form, appears to bring a quality of stillness, that in the normal hurly burly of life is hard to find.

My four months at Knoll culminated in an exhibition of the work created and these were displayed in the gardens themselves. We had a lovely private view one evening, when the gardens were closed to the public.

The Crypt Gallery

Branches, which are covered in human hair, appear to be growing from the walls like roots.
